Research Centre on Antigypsyism Doctoral scholarships

The basic funding of the RCA provided by the state of Baden-Württemberg includes two doctoral scholarships, which are awarded in cooperation with the Graduate Academy of Heidelberg University. The doctoral projects funded in this way form a central core area of the research work carried out at the RCA and at the same time underline its interdisciplinary profile. In addition, the scholarships, which are advertised every three years, ensure the continuous promotion of young researchers.

The doctoral theses are usually located in the field of (historical) antigypsyism research and can be supervised by the Scientific Manager Dr. Frank Reuter. Interdisciplinary approaches are expressly encouraged. The scholarship holders will be included in the academic dialog within the Research Centre on Antigypsyism and should benefit from the exchange with other researchers. After completing their work, doctoral students are given the opportunity to publish in the “Interdisciplinary Studies in Antigypsyism” series and may contribute to other publications, such as anthologies. They also regularly present their work at specialist conferences and other events organized by the RCA. In addition, the RCA specifically acquires collection objects that are of great relevance to individual doctoral projects and can thus be directly accessed and analyzed as sources on site.

The scholarship of 1,650 euros per month is initially awarded for two years, with an interim evaluation before the end of the first funding year. The total funding period is a maximum of three years. Administrative support is provided in cooperation with the Graduate Academy of Heidelberg University

New tenders are regularly announced here.
