In cooperation with the Graduate Academy of Heidelberg University, the RCA regularly awards doctoral scholarships in the field of (historical) antigypsyism research.

The fellowship in the amount of 1,650 Euro per month will be initially awarded for two years and an interim evaluation will take place before the end of the first funding year. Funding can be provided for a maximum of three years. 

Applicants must submit a research proposal of 4 to 5 pages plus bibliography. The research proposal must locate the planned doctoral project within the greater research context, it must clearly outline the research hypothesis and goals and it must identify an inventory of relevant sources. A time and work schedule must also be submitted.

Applicants must also submit an overview of their academic studies and degrees obtained to date along with copies of all university diplomas and a curriculum vitae in tabular form. Evaluations from two university professors must also be provided; these must be treated confidentially by the evaluators and submitted separately from the application.

Evaluations

Prerequisites: 
- a university degree that qualifies you for doctoral training (generally a master’s degree) 
- above average academic performance.

Please note: in the case of a successful application, the fellowship recipient must apply for admission as a doctoral candidate to the relevant faculty at Heidelberg University (Annahme als Doktorand/in) and must submit proof of admission before the funding begins.

As dealing with the topic of antigypsyism requires a high degree of sensitivity, the Forschungsstelle Antiziganismus considers dialogue with those affected to be an integral part of its academic practice. Therefore, applications from qualified young researchers from the Sinti and Roma communities are particularly welcome.
