Cooperation Network against Antigypsyism
The Cooperation Network Against Antigypsyism is a network of five organisations that have been funded since 2025 by the Federal Ministry for Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMBFSFJ) as part of the federal programme ‘Demokratie leben!’ (Live Democracy!) in the action area ‘Establishment of a federal infrastructure’. The organisations behind the cooperation network are the Documentation and Cultural Centre of German Sinti and Roma with the project ‘Education Forum against Antigypsyism’, the intercultural youth self-organisation Amaro Drom e.V., the Protestant Academy in Berlin with the project ‘Network Sinti Roma Churches’, the Lower Saxony Memorial Foundation with the project ‘Competence Centre against Antitgypsyism (KogA)’, and the Research Centre on Antigypsyism at the University of Heidelberg with the project ‘The Critical Film & Image Hub’.
The aim of the cooperation network is to strengthen nationwide prevention work against antigypsyism and to empower Sinti* and Roma*. In order to broaden knowledge and expertise on the history and present situation of Sinti and Roma within German society and to further develop the quality of education against antigypsyism, we want to build capacities and structures, form networks and alliances, and organise an exchange of expertise between civil society and state actors as well as academia. In the spirit of representing specific political interests, we also want to increase the visibility of the issue of antigypsyism as a whole, always taking into account the perspectives of Sinti* and Roma*, whom we want to represent in all their diversity.
